Romsey Mayors Picnic 2015

On Sunday 5th July, Romsey Family Support Group had a stall at the Romsey Mayor's Picnic in the Romsey Memorial Park. The stall consisted of an adult and a child tombola. A lot of hard work went into the ticketing of prizes beforehand. On the day we were inundated with people wanting to buy tickets. Thank you so much to our great bunch of volunteers who helped on the day and a huge thank you to parents Colette, Harley and Carly who gave up their Sunday to help us. We had our best and busiest year to date. Thank you to the Rotary Club of Romsey Test, whom without them organising this event, it would not of been possible to raise much needed funds for our Group. Also a huge thank you to Co-op - Romsey Central branch who provided us with £30.00 in co-op vouchers to purchase tombola prizes from their store.

RFSG visit to Farmer Palmers and Beach Trip 2015

On Thursday 30th 2015 a change of plan due to the unpredictable weather saw families and volunteers from Romsey Family Support Group enjoy a fun filled day out at Farmer Palmers near Poole. Joan rang up the night before and managed to get a special deal. The children had the chance to bottle/hand feed goats and lambs, meet and hold a Guinea Pig, watch a Cow Milking demonstration and enjoy some Pig racing. There was also a chance to experience a bumpy tractor ride in the trailer. If that wasn't enough they could use up bundles of energy in the indoor and outdoor play areas including climbing and sliding on straw bales, bouncing on the bouncy castles, pedalling around on the mini tractors and having a spash in the waterplay area. A few parents took the opportunity to have a stroll through the beautiful woodland walk and the children loved exploring the maize maze

Luckily the next day Friday 31st July 2015 the weather was looking slightly more settled and warmer, a lot more like beach weather, so we set off by mini-bus and cars as planned to Mudeford Quay enjoying a short ferry crossing to Hengistbury Head. Paul the ferryman always looks after our Group so well.

Once at the beach (for some of whom it was their first visit) there was plenty of time to explore, build sandcastles, have a splash in the sea and have a ride on the Noddy train.  Dr Peter Burrows and Georgina Burrows kindly gave us use of their beach hut to make hot drinks & shelter from the sun or just relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility.

At 3.30pm it was time to leave Hengistbury Head and make the return crossing to Mudeford Quay with some very tired children, all of whom soon perked up when they heard the offer of an icecream for everyone.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make these two wonderful days possible especially the Romsey, Chandlers Ford & District Round Table who kindly donated £250.00 towards these days out.

Walk the Test Way 2015

Two parents, one volunteer and the mother of one of our volunteers took part in this year's Walk the Test Way held on Sunday 10th October. The event was organised by The Rotary Club of Romsey Test. Luckily the weather stayed dry and an enjoyable if not tiring day was had by all. A massive thank you to Barbara, Jim, Colette, Carly and Sister Catherine who took part, raising much needed funds for RFSG also thank you to anyone else outside the Group who walked for our charity. Also thank you to The Rotary Club of Romsey Test for organising this fantastic annual event that has been running since 2004. Without their help and support it would not be possible to take part in such a lovely event that brings the whole community together.
